The Womb Room at the Corallium Spa at Gran Canaria’s 4-star Lopesan Costa Meloneras resort is not one for the faint hearted – this room is designed to re-create the journey of life starting with where it all began: the womb!
The Womb Room treatment is part of the hotel’s ‘Spa Experience’ which includes 15 rooms designed to take you on a memory journey through life. Entering the room through the neck of a uterus fashioned out of pink carpet, guests find themselves in a low-lit room, with pink carpet splashed with vermillion fabric revolving to simulate a giant umbilical cord, and are blood-coloured waterbeds designed to indicate the amniotic sac.
To aid the process of unwinding once guests lie down on the beds, breathy music is played to re-create the noises heard from within the womb. We love this off-the-wall idea, and would definitely ‘disconnect our minds’ to give this trip down memory lane a go.
This impressive resort contains a wondrous spa inspired by the naturally volcanic Canaries, which includes a salt grotto, cave flotation pool and various heat experiences.

When one is planning their Canary Islands holidays, they need to take into consideration all the activities that Gran Canaria has to offer. There are several options for people seeking all types of adventures with all types of budgets. Many of these activities are offered on the ocean or within it, as Gran Canaria is part of the Canary Island chain and is an island itself.
For the ocean mammal lover, their Canary Islands holidays can include a dolphin and whale cruise that costs less than $50 per person. This cruise lasts for approximately three hours. The cruise goes through the southern waters of Gran Canaria, where dolphins and other wild oceanic animals are known to swim all year long. The boats have glass bottoms so that passengers can view the wildlife better, without being splashed on deck. 30 people can fit into one boat. There are various types of dolphins that have been seen on these tours. Pilot and Beaked Whales have also been seen, along with their larger cousins, the Sperm, Sei, and Finback. The Jeep Safari lasts nearly 7 hours, can be taken by 4 people at once and costs $63 per person. This tour will take tourists all over the island, showcasing all the natural beauty of it. It includes lunch and one drink, so bringing water would be a wise idea.
For the tourists who would like dinner and a show, there is Garbo’s Dinner Show. This entertainment package costs $83 and lasts about 5 hours. The tourists will be taken from their hotels to Garbo’s where they will feast on a dinner consisting of 3 courses which will be a salad, meat which is grilled, vegetables, potatoes, and for dessert there is cake tea and coffee. After dinner is finished, the show will begin, which is modelled after a musical. Melonora is a great destination and there are some great cheap holiday options for those on a budget.
